Belmont Park Triathlon

Date: May 18th, 2014 at 7:00 a.m.

Triathlon distances
: 5k run - 10k bike - 200m pool swim (reverse triathlon)

Note: Run and bike on the dry hard pack sand at the beach during an extreme low-tide!
The course is flat, fun and easy on the joints, and there will be of course - no cars!
So...break out your Mountain Bike, Beach Cruiser, Hybrid, Eliptigo or BMX and join us
for great beach views, fresh air, a great work-out and a Margarita!

Entrant Limit: 150 (start time is 7:00 a.m. for all competitors)

2014 Belmont Park Triathlon registration confirmation: who is in the triathlon?

Bikes: You may use a Mountain bike, Hybrid, Beach Cruiser, BMX or Elipitigo! Don't have one?
           No problem! Just let us know when signing up on Active.com and we can get you setup
           with a rental!

Triathlon Entry cost:  thru March 31st ($39), thru April 30th ($49), thru May 16th ($59), and late sign-up at mandatory check-in and on race day ($65). Special pricing for youth 17 & under starts at $25!

Note: There are NO race day sign-ups available for the Triathlon!

ALL TRIATHLON ENTRANTS MUST:

i) Present an annual USAT membership card when checking in

OR

ii) must purchase while registering on Active.com the one-day USAT membership for $12 (or show proof of purchase)

Refund policy: We realize things come up and we will allow a refund as follows: Until March 15th 2014 - 100%, until April 15th 2014- 50% and after April 15th no refunds will be given. There is a $15 refund fee withheld for processing the refund.

Awards: go 5 deep for 39 & under (M/F) and 40 & Over (M/F) in the Beach Cruiser, Hybrid and BMX type bike (kids) Divisions. The Mountain bike division will have awards 3 deep in 5 year age groups as follows: 14U, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54,55-59,60-64,65-69,70-74,75-79 (M/F).

Awards ceremony will take place behind the Wave House along the beach front and will begin about 15 minutes after the last triathlete finishes (approximately at 8:15 a.m.).

NOTE: There is no award "double-dipping"

Amenities: We will have Color T-shirts and finisher medals for all competitors! We will also be giving away some great prizes from our sponsors!

Margaritas: Entrants will be provided a complimentary Margarita drink ticket!

Food: A free burrito will be provided to all entrants at the Friday or Saturday check-in!

MANDATORY EVENT CHECK-IN DATES FOR COMPETITORS (pick ONE that is convenient for you!):

May 16th (Fri) - Movin' Shoes (Encinitas) 5:00 -7pm

May 17th (Sat) - Movin' Shoes (Pacific Beach) 11:00 -3pm

Discounts: The Encinitas & Pacific Beach Movin' Shoes stores will have discounts available for our entrants on check-in day!

NOTE: If you live OUTSIDE of San Diego County, you may check-in race morning, May 18th from 5-6:15 a.m. If you live in the extreme north, east or south sections of San Diego County, you may check-in race morning. Our events take place "rain or shine".


At the MANDATORY CHECK-IN ALL ENTRANTS MUST PRESENT A SUITABLE PHOTO I.D.

NO I.D - NO RACE. NO EXCEPTIONS!

YOU MAY NOT HAVE SOMEONE PICK-UP YOUR PACKET. YOU MUST PICK-UP YOUR OWN PACKET AND PRESENT YOUR I.D.

The triathlon is entirely on the beach from Mission Beach to Pacific Beach starting in front of the Wave House located beach side at 3115 Ocean Front, Mission Beach, San Diego, 92109


Note: All USAT rules will apply. It is the entrant's responsibility to know the USAT rules. Our bike course will be marshaled. Our bike marshals will be looking for 5 key violations: 1) Your helmet is fastened at ALL times on the course, 2) You may NOT draft at any time on the bike course. This means keep at least 5 bike lengths between you and the rider in front of you and you may NOT ride along side another rider, 3) Our course will have 2 "no passing" zones race day. Obey all rules and instructions regarding these lanes, 4) No erratic or unsafe riding, and 5) Observe the Mount/Dismount line and follow instructions accordingly. Violators of these rules may be given a warning, penalized by a time penalty or may be DISQUALIFIED.


Event and Parking Map:
Plenty of parking is available at the Belmont Park parking lot just south of the roller coaster and additional parking is available in the West Mission Bay city parking lot. Be aware of Red zones as you will be ticketed!
